My patients ask about Max's beautiful, tranquil paintings almost every day. I had tears the first time I saw them. Recently a nervous patient was so distracted and calmed by the art that she didn't feel it when I gave her her blood test.

The Spirit of Connection

Have you ever been lonely? I feel bad even saying this, because I'm a wife and mum.

I was at home in London. The most amazing city in the world. The loneliest city in the world - where it is an affront to say hello to someone on the street. You don't even know your own neighbours!

Maybe you are also not from the cold place you live in? (I'm from South Africa, where the winters and the people are warm and welcoming).

Spring came. As the fragrance of cherry blossoms and daffodils coaxed me into the garden, Bob Marley's voice drifted over my neighbour's fence.

At first I thought the music was from my house, but it wasn't. My neighbour, James, was listening to the same reggae music that instantly transported me home to Africa.

Bob Marley's music had seen me through bereavement, bullying, loneliness and miscarriages - to moments of great joy.

Soon we were sharing neighbourhood barbecues, just like home!

I couldn't believe my ears because James was blasting "Is This Love", the song my husband and I had danced our first dance at our wedding to! Memories flooded back of being back home, celebrating with friends and family.

Even though I didn't know James, I knew he also wasn't from London. Maybe he was also missing his friends and family; wishing he could dance with his loved ones again?

It felt like the reggae music was doing that magic thing that the best art does, reminding us that we are all more connected than we think.

when neighbours become friends

The next time our families were outside our homes, we spoke about reggae music.

As the weather continued to warm, our children began calling to each other over the fence. Within no time they were ace at climbing the fence! connection became a seed for the art you are seeing. I wanted to paint Bob Marley for my neighbours' home, but I visualised this artwork connecting even more ex-strangers like us.

Working in a frenzy of acrylics, textured impasto strokes and abstract shapes, I tried to catch that magic spark of likeness.

in the studio, painting Bob

Dancing to my husband's Bob Marley playlist while I painted, I tried to visually translate the rhythym, the courage, the soulfulness, the peace into something you can see.

I wanted others to feel what I feel when I hear Bob Marley's music - that sacred space where we are all one, where love is the only thing that matters.

I hope to spark a conversation, like children meeting for the first time. "You like reggae too? Let's be friends".

If you've craved this kind of conversation too, maybe, just maybe, we're already connected.

THE BOB MARLEY COLLECTION

The Bob Marley Collection offers a series of original art pieces that capture the power of reggae music to connect us across boundaries.

When you bring these unique pieces into your space, you’ll add a touch of vibrant energy and creativity. The collection’s dynamic colors and expressive depictions of Bob Marley will transform any room, making it feel alive with the transcendence of rainbows, the boldness of unity, the light that emerges from darkness, and the calming abundance of water.

Featuring my signature portraiture style, each artwork combines acrylic painting with hand-drawn digital techniques, resulting in a bold color palette and abstract design that pays homage to Bob Marley.

These benevolent portraits do more than just decorate. I hope they watch over your space, evoke shared wisdom, and infuse your home with an uplifting atmosphere, filling it with the amazing vibe of connection and inspiration.

So, why give away free art?

Since creating the first print of Bob as a heartfelt gift for my neighbours, I've been blessed by selling my work all over the world.

My original work now sells for tens of thousands of pounds. I've painted Ricky Gervais for All Dogs Matter and Richard Branson owns my painting of his mum Eve! On Necker Island!

But I want to extend my reach and really connect with more people.

I also believe art is for everyone, and that talking about art (including reggae music!) helps us find our shared heart.

And if you enjoy working with me, maybe you'll think of me next time you want some art...

I'd love to give you something real that you can hold and keep. To connect you with a community of worldwide neighbours.

I hope you love your art as much as my customers do!

My incredible painting arrived safely. I am in love with it. I put it in a place that I can see it coming in and out of the apartment and kitchen, plus when I sit on the couch in the evening I can see it from the couch and in two mirrors.
